St. Charles police raising funds for Special Olympics

The St. Charles Police Department will hold a fundraiser at two local Dunkin' locations to benefit Special Olympics Illinois.

From 5 a.m. to noon on Friday, officers will host the Coffee for Champions event at the Dunkin' locations at 1566 E. Main St. and 1711 W. Main St. Donations will benefit the 18th annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois.

Each patron who makes a donation will receive a coupon for a free doughnut, according to the Special Olympics Illinois website. People donating $10 or more will receive a Law Enforcement Torch Run travel mug while supplies last and a coupon for a free medium hot coffee.

The partnership between law enforcement and Special Olympics Illinois has resulted in a total of $5.75 million in fundraising, according to Special Olympics Illinois. The goal this year is to raise an additional $870,000.
