Naper Nights explores the sounds of blues, rock and Beach Boys harmonies Aug. 13-14

Naper Nights returns this weekend, exploring major historical milestones and their effect on pop culture with themed musical tribute concerts.

Gravity, a John Mayer tribute band, will be the opener Friday, Aug. 13, followed by Trippin Billies, a Dave Matthews tribute band.

On Saturday, Aug. 14, Mellencougar will kick off the evening playing the best of John Mellencamp and more, followed by Sounds of Summer bringing back the cool harmonies of the Beach Boys sound.

Rock out with your community as you eat, drink, dance, and hear the area's best tribute bands from 5 to 10 p.m. on select weekends at Naper Settlement, 523 S. Webster St. in Naperville. The opening concerts are 6 to 7:30 p.m. followed by the headliners from 8 to 10 p.m.

Tickets to the concerts are $15, $10 for ages 4 to 12. Admission is free for Naper Settlement members.

The Doors tribute band Of Perception will open the evening performances on Friday, Sept. 17, followed by Rocks Off, a full nine-piece band performing a deep album cuts or your favorite live version from the Rolling Stones.

Naper Nights will wrap up Saturday, Sept. 18, with Paradise Waits performing a Grateful Dead tribute, and the Phish tribute band Runaway Gin.

Naper Settlement members receive complimentary admission to all Naper Settlement-produced events (rental events not included), including all six Naper Nights concerts, Home Front 1940s Weekend, Oktoberfest, All Hallows Eve, and Howlin' at the Moon (21 or older). Memberships start at $35.

Free parking is available in the municipal parking garage on the corner of Eagle and Aurora and in the Naper Settlement visitor's lot on Porter Avenue and Webster Street.

All Naperville Heritage Society events take place rain or shine. However, in the case of unsafe weather - lightning, tornado, etc. - Naper Settlement will close the grounds and cancel the event for the safety of its patrons. For questions, call (630) 420-6010 weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Held on Naper Settlement's 13-acre grounds, this three-weekend concert series draws a crowd of nearly 10,000 people throughout the summer.
