With DeRozan watching, Williams rallies Bulls to win
With DeMar DeRozan sitting courtside, the Bulls rallied from a 22-point deficit to beat San Antonio 92-89 in their second game at the Las Vegas summer league on Tuesday.
Forward Patrick Williams led the way with 30 points and 7 rebounds. He hit 4 of 7 attempts from 3-point range.
The deal hasn't been officially announced yet, but DeRozan is expected to join the Bulls on a sign-and-trade deal from the Spurs. So the veteran forward was watching his past and future teams in Las Vegas.
DeRozan was seated between Bulls coach Billy Donovan and forward Troy Brown Jr., with the Bulls management team of Arturas Karnisovas and Marc Eversley nearby. It was reported that Thad Young, Al-Farouq Aminu and two draft picks are headed to the Spurs in the deal and it's possible the Bulls are waiting in case they can expand the trade to find a new home for Lauri Markkanen in a sign-and-trade.
The Bulls officially announced the free agent signing of former Lakers guard Alex Caruso on Tuesday and previously made the Lonzo Ball sign-and-trade with New Orleans official.
While Williams paced the Bulls' comeback in Vegas, center Marko Simonovic added 13 points and rookie guard Ayo Dosunmu scored 10.
The Bulls hit 8 of 17 shots from 3-point range, with Jaylen Adams and Ethan Thompson hitting 2 each.
