56-year-old Elmhurst woman killed in McHenry County crash Saturday
The McHenry County coroner's office said 56-year-old Christian Smith of Elmhurst was the woman killed in a two-vehicle crash late Saturday morning north of McHenry.
According to McHenry County sheriff's office reports, Smith was driving an 2015 Acura TLX south on Route 31 just north of Pioneer Road when a 2021 GMC Acadia headed north crossed the centerline and crashed into Smith's vehicle.
Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
The unidentified 30-year-old Wisconsin woman driving the GMC was transported to a nearby hospital initially and then flown by helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Her condition is unknown.
The sheriff's office is still investigating the cause of the crash.
