Indian Independence & Cultural Day festival draws big crowd in Maine Township

Every Year Chicago land Indian community eagerly waits for the arrival of festivals specially Independence Day festival.

Independence Day festivals reflect the culture and society diversity. The atmosphere is always filled with zeal and happiness.

First time in Maine Township, Indian communities celebrates their annual Independence Day enthusiastically and passionately. It brings the people of different communities together irrespective.

Essentially Independence Day is on August 15, celebrated all over the Chicago area. Many organizations and teams Celebrating them in different dates and venues. During Maine Townships Indian Cultural festival held on Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021 from 4:30 pm till 8:30 pm.

About three hundred people turned out for the Indian Cultural festival event held Tuesday in Maine Township, Monika Jaroszewicz and Sariq Bukhari was the emcee of the program. The main highlight of the Indian Independence Day celebrations is the National Flag hoisting ceremony Similar types of flag hoisting ceremonies and independence special events are held in all major cities in America, but the Maine Township celebration is held in the Parking lot of 1700 Ballard Road, Park Ridge, IL 60068 In Front of Village Hall. The ceremony was totally remarkable.

The proceedings began with national anthems (American and Indian) Mayor of the Des Plaines Andrew Goczkowski. Supervisor Karen J. Dimond and members of the Maine Townships include Peter Gialamas, Susan Moylan Krey, Ed Beauvais, Kimberly Jones, Kelly Horvath, James Maher, Asif Malik and representatives of State, including Senator Ms. Laura Murphy, State Senator Ram Villivalam, Hanover Township assessor Khawaja Moinuddin, Village of Oak Brook trustee Suresh Reddy and several others.

A highlight of the event is keynote speaker Asif Malik; others elected officials also address the event.

Asif Malik was inspired to share their expression to the public, he said,"Today we are celebrating Indian Independence Cultural Day here. This is the first time we are doing this kind of event. I hope and pray that our future generations carry on this tradition and continue to honor this day. I humbly request the community to support our programs. We are hardworking people who devote their energy towards the betterment of our communities here in the United States of America. I am proud to be part of this community. I am thanking all my supporters Including Maine Township Supervisor Karen J. Diamond and teams, God Bless America."

Music and Cultural songs were performed by several local artists. Classical and folk music and dances including Kathak dances performed in the event by re known performers.
