Round Lake man drowned after jumping off boat, coroner says

A man who drowned in Round Lake over the weekend has been identified as a local resident, authorities announced Tuesday.

Luis Fernando Vazquez-Velazquez, 26, died Sunday after he jumped off a boat to swim in the lake, the Lake County coroner's office said.

Vazquez-Velazquez was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville but couldn't be revived.

Toxicology test results are pending.

Round Lake Beach police and the coroner's office are investigating.
