Out-of-date economics

I know it is important for the Herald to present various viewpoints on the editorial page, but to include a hack like Steven Moore is a disservice to your readers, though many might agree with him.

He's is consistently wrong about just about everything economic. Anyone who thinks that cutting government spending is the path to prosperity needs to get out of the 1920s.

We are on a new path now. Whether it continues to develop or not depends on sidelining cranks like Moore.

By contrast, the Ralph Martire column on Illinois' fiscal difficulties was alarming, but it wasn't the work of a dim polemicist, and it ended with a description of the problem and possible solutions.
