Aurora's 'Back the Vax Festival' July 31 to feature confetti canons, food trucks and music
The City of Aurora is collaborating with local artists tomorrow to encourage those in who haven't done so yet to get their COVID-19 vaccination.
Aurora's Public Art Division, collaborating with local organizations, is hosting the "Back the Vax" music festival from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, on Water St. Mall in downtown Aurora.
The festival will feature live music from local Black and Latinx artists, food trucks, and most importantly, free COVID-19 vaccinations provided by VNA Health Care.
It will feature Mars Kidd, Lo Loski, Genni B, Black Diamond Elite, Bulldog, J. Nava, L. Misa, Pueblo de la H., Kiara, Fiesta Mastershow Productions: Kate Sanchez, Johan Sanchez, Sebastian Castellanos, and Amy Escaleras.
Food truck vendors include Strawberries BBQ, Taqueria Senor Taco, Mamalicious Jerk 'N Curry Cuisine, and Elotes Gus.
A confetti cannon will shoot for every shot.
Check out "Vaxzine," a free art booklet for the first 500 guests.
VNA Health Care will also have minority medical professionals onsite to talk about COVID-19, its impact on the local community, and why it is so important to take the vaccine.
This effort is a continuation of Aurora's successful equity-focused vaccination clinics held earlier this year through the Black Vax Aurora, Latin Vax Aurora and Indian Vax Aurora Initiatives.
While the focus is on minority and younger community members, vaccines will be provided to everyone 12 years old and older.
Entry is free.
