Elgin Area Pandemic Team to host vaccine clinics with Six Flags tickets giveaway

The Elgin Area Pandemic Team, with a grant from the Gail Borden Public Library Foundation, will be hosting vaccine events in the next few days. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be given on Tuesday, Aug. 3, and the Pfizer vaccine will be given on Saturday, Aug. 7.

At National Night Out, Tuesday, Aug. 3, there will be a one shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine clinic for people 18 or older from 6 to 8 p.m. at Division and Chapel streets in Elgin.

There will be food, games, music, a bounce house, a button making activity and more.

This event is partnered with the Elgin Police Department, Holy Trinity Church, Congregation Kneseth Israel, Kingdom Advancement Center and Walgreens.

People are encouraged to register at www.gbpl.info/aug3vax.

Elgin Board of Health Chairwoman Dr. Dorothea Poulos will also be Facebook Live that evening at 6:15 p.m. at the event, taking questions updating people about vaccines. It will be bilingual.

Six Flags tickets for Great America Theme Park in Gurnee will be given away to all youths, age 12 to 17, receiving the Pfizer vaccine at the Gail Borden Public Library "Back to School" clinic on Saturday, Aug. 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Minors under the age of 18 must bring a signed Pfizer consent form by their parental guardian. People are encouraged to register at www.KaneVax.org.

Each vaccinated young person ages 12 to 17 will receive 2 Six Flags tickets. The second dose for that vaccine will be Aug. 28. This event is partnered with the Kane Community Health Department and Six Flags Great America.

About the Elgin Area Pandemic Team: The Gail Borden Public Library District Foundation and Library District, in partnership with Centro de Informacion and in coordination with local, regional and state partners, will be assisting COVID-impacted people in our community as part of the Pandemic Health Navigator Program.

The grant for this program is from the Illinois Public Health Association, in partnership with the Illinois Primary Health Care Association and funded by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
