How local Olympians fared Tuesday: Men's volleyball looks strong
With 21 kills, TJ DeFalco led the United States men's volleyball team to a win over Tunisia on Tuesday.
That runs the Americans' record to 2-0 in pool play.
The United States, which features Wheatonn's Thomas Jaeschke and Jeff Jendryk as an alternate, got a 3-1 win (25-14, 23-25, 25-14, 25-23). Jaeschke got a block and scored a point.
Fit to be tied: The U.S. women's soccer team battled to a 0-0 tie with Australia on Tuesday.
Goalie Alyssa Naeher held firm for the shutout for the Americans.
Casey Krueger of Naperville did not play in the match.
Tough finish: In the Finals B of the women's quadruple sculls, the United States, featuring Alie Rusher of Glenview, finished fourth out of four teams.
Great Britain took first place with a 6:25.14 while New Zealand finished second and France was third. The Americans clocked a time of 6:30.03.
China won the Finals A with a 6:05.13.
