Scammers steal from Batavia home

Batavia police are investigating a residential ruse burglary that occurred early Saturday afternoon, officials said.

Officers responded at 6:53 p.m. to the 1100 block of Chillem Drive Saturday for a residential burglary that had occurred about 3 p.m., according to a news release from the Batavia Police Department.

The victim told police the two men entered the home after telling the victim there was a water problem that needed attention. After the pair left, the victim noticed several items were missing.

The Batavia Police Department reminds residents to be cautious about letting people into their homes, especially when they have not been invited or requested.
