It all boils down to haves and have nots

A balanced reasoned approach to the discussion of race in the United States should include an equally frank discussion about how history, social sciences and our entertainment are being weaponized to push a political agenda - an agenda using George Floyd and Breonna Taylor as martyrs while ignoring the astounding ever-growing death toll from gun violence in Chicago.

The issue is not black and white, the issue is green. Money is power.

As actor Ned Beatty said as he portrayed a United States Senator in the movie "Shooter, "There are no Republicans and Democrats, no Sunnis or Shiites, there are only haves and have nots."

I will add, there are no white supremacists and no Black Lives Matter, only haves and have nots.

While we argue about the appropriate name for Lake Shore Drive and whether "the Land of Lincoln" should have statues of Lincoln (because he legally represented slave owners at a time in the United States when slavery was legal), people are dying in droves.

When will we wake up? I am a Catholic and believe in evolution as a tool of God's Intelligent Design. That means when you go back far enough, we are all African. Let's identify and solve the problems of education and opportunity and stop embarrassing ourselves at the expense of innocent lives. Let's show God that we are worthy of his unconditional love.
