Music, food and more at Cocktails in the Park in Batavia July 31

After the COVID-19 pandemic forced Cocktails in the Park into individual backyards last year, the 2021 event is back with an in-person celebration taking place at Appleton Park in Batavia. Those planning to attend can head to the park located behind City Hall at 100 N. Island Ave. in Batavia on July 31 for a night filled with excellent food and entertainment. Cocktails in the Park will follow all current state gathering guidelines related to COVID-19. Beth Walker, executive director of Batavia MainStreet, which hosts the event, said the organization is just happy that new state guidance allows for more events.

“We are excited that the gathering restrictions have been eased and we are able to gather in person,” said Walker. “Appleton Park is a beautiful space to host an event with the old limestone building on one side and the Fox River on the other side.”

Gerald Subaru of North Aurora helps to sponsor Cocktails in the Park, the first event Batavia MainStreet has been able to host in person since 2019. Participants will gather July 31 at Appleton Park in Batavia.

Cocktails in the Park kicks off at 7 p.m. and runs through 11 p.m. on July 31. In addition to providing a venue for participants to gather in person and enjoy a limited number of Beverage Boxes, the event will be livestreamed via Batavia MainStreet's Facebook page for those who cannot attend in person.

Those enjoying the festivities at Appleton Park will be treated to live music, cocktails curated by a local mixologist and delicious food options from local restaurants. Cocktails in the Park is Batavia MainStreet's annual fundraiser. Proceeds help the organization continue to produce the many community events that Batavia residents know and love.

“This year's event is so meaningful because it will be our first event in person since 2019. We are looking forward to reconnecting with the community,” said Walker.

Local organizations, including Gerald Subaru of North Aurora, help make Cocktails in the Park a reality. Walker said Batavia MainStreet is thrilled to have such loyal partners that are willing to support their programming and organization's mission to help create a unique and vital downtown where the Batavia community loves to gather.

“We love participating in all of the events that make Batavia such a special place. We're proud to be partnering with Batavia MainStreet as they continue to find ways for the community to connect and enjoy each other's company,” said Donna Lawler, Vice President of the Gerald Auto Group.
