'Silent majority' will be heard from again

The silent majority has not been heard from for some time now. Perhaps it is time they were reawakened.

There is a growing swell by a number of Americans that we are being forgotten. We are being ignored and even ridiculed for the contributions we and our ancestors contributed to create this great country. We instead are being called racists, thieves, murderers and whatever else the loud minority can come up with.

The loud minority want our memories torn down, our accomplishments rejected, our motives questioned and our victories slandered. They want our children to be ashamed of who we are and no longer have respect for their fathers, grandfathers and great grandfathers who came before them.

I am an American who thanks God every day for the life I have had. I thank Him for creating men like Columbus and Marco Polo and the great explorers like them for getting in a ship 70 feet long packed with 40 men to expand the modern world.

I thank Him for creating George Washington to lead this country to freedom. I thank Him for Abraham Lincoln for keeping this country together when it could so easily have been destroyed. I thank Him for men like Ted Williams who was not only a great baseball player but served his country giving up some of his best baseball years in two wars. I thank Him for letting my dad come home from World War II despite two purple hearts and being disabled but still able to create with my mother the fellow writing this.

I may only have a few years left in this world but until the day God calls my number, I will stand and honor those who came before me and will never let anyone take what I have worked so hard for without a fight.
