Infrastructure bill must boost cybersecurity
After yet another major Russian hack, this country is clearly doing a poor job installing more effective cybersecurity measures. President Biden is on the right track when he characterizes the U.S. as in a cyber war with countries that would seek to undermine our security.
The founders of the IT company where I am a partner are Russian émigrés, with a background in IT security, so we are well aware of Russia's hacking capabilities. And Russia is aware of America's shortcomings in cybersecurity, which they can exploit regularly. This has caused us to play "whack-a-mole" with Russian hacks; stomping on one security threat at a time while others pop up throughout the nation.
This underscores the need to ensure that cybersecurity plays a bigger role in the proposed infrastructure bill being studied by Congress. To ignore this measure puts the country at peril.
