Another look is needed on redistricting maps

In early June, Gov. Pritzker signed into law three new maps that will draw new boundaries for our Illinois House and Senate, Supreme Court and Cook County Board of Review. These decisions were made in a vacuum by one political party and did not take into account the true representation of the state. The process to develop these new boundaries was not completed in an independent manner, and it's alarming that Illinois' demographics were not truly considered in the decision-making.

I am encouraged to see Rep. Jim Durkin and Sen. Dan McConchie challenging the legislative map on the use of the survey data, but our assessment should not stop there. We also have to consider the Supreme Court maps that used the same flawed data. Those deserve a second look and to be challenged as well.
