Car vandalized in Des Plaines

A car parked on the 1600 block of Thacker Street in Des Plaines was damaged this week by a vandal who added sand to its motor oil, police said Friday.

The damage occurred Tuesday or Wednesday. It was discovered by a mechanic after the car's engine stopped working while the car was being driven, police said.
