Home mortgage firm moving from Rolling Meadows to Bell Works in Hoffman Estates

Another Northwest suburban company has announced its relocation to Bell Works Chicagoland - the office, residential and commercial "metroburb" being redeveloped from the former AT&T corporate campus in Hoffman Estates.

Though other tenants have preceded it, Rolling Meadows-based Platinum Home Mortgage Corporation's use of 22,000 square feet across three dedicated offices spaces at Bell Works is being considered the facility's first long-term lease by New Jersey-based Somerset Development.

"As we welcome Platinum Home Mortgage Corporation, we celebrate an incredible milestone for the blossoming Chicagoland Metroburb, as the community begins to come alive with its own magnetic energy," Somerset President and CEO Ralph Zucker said in a statement. "Today's workforce demands more from its office environment, far beyond the standard list of office amenities or superficial perks. Bell Works Chicagoland reflects the senses of community and creativity that are central to the fabric of the modern office."

Platinum Home Mortgage will move 100 employees to Bell Works this fall.

"We knew right away that this was the place for us - it's a space where our team can continue to grow," CEO William Giambrone said. "In addition to PHMC's new offices at Bell Works, we're looking forward to taking advantage of all of the great outdoor areas available to us. We're excited to be a part of the Hoffman Estates community."

Bell Works Chicagoland's existing tenants include CPA Advisors Group, a full-service accounting firm; Mosquito Hunters, a residential and commercial mosquito control service; and The Next Unicorn, an equity crowdfunding firm. All of those occupy Bell Works' "ready-to-wear" offices which offer pre-furnished spaces and flexible lease terms for small-to-medium-sized businesses.

In April, Somerset opened a 15,000-square-foot coworking space called coLab at Bell Works Chicagoland.

Fairgrounds Craft Coffee and Tea also operates a kiosk and has plans for a larger space in the future. A gym space is also expected to open soon at Bell Works.

The entire redevelopment is envisioned as a self-contained community including office and retail space, restaurants, entertainment venues and multifamily residential buildings.

In late May, Somerset officials said they were in the process of submitting a formal plan for 189 townhouses and 361 apartments for open land on the 150-acre site. At that time, they anticipated a 4- to 6-month review of the plans by Hoffman Estates officials. If the project remains on schedule, developers believe the first townhouses could be delivered in the summer of 2022.
