Inaugural Naperville Salute kicks off Friday

The inaugural Naperville Salute kicks off Friday with festivities centered around honoring military service members, veterans and first responders.

The family-friendly event is 4 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Rotary Hill, 443 Aurora Ave., with live entertainment, food and beverage vendors and special presentations for veterans, according to a news release. A free "Family Fun Zone" will be available starting at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Proceeds will benefit event organizer Naperville Responds for Veterans. Admission costs $15 per person after 4 p.m., though veterans, active military personnel and kids under 12 are free.

A free fireworks display is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. Sunday at Frontier Park, 3380 Cedar Glade Drive, with food and beverage vendors and music choreographed by 95.9 FM The River, officials said. Attendees can begin gathering in the late afternoon.
