Elgin man guilty of sexually abusing child
A Kane County jury has found an Elgin man guilty of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
It reached its verdict against Jacob Headtke on June 23, according to court records.
Prosecutors said that between Oct. 1, 2015, and June 1, 2016, Headtke sexually abused a person under the age of 13. He knew the victim, according to a news release from the Kane County state's attorney's office.
Charges were filed in November 2016 against Headtke, 31, of the 600 block of Bent Street.
He could be sentenced to probation or three to seven years in prison. Headtke will also have to register for life as a sexual offender.
He remains free on bond while awaiting sentencing. His next court date is July 30.
