Bartlett police: Driver intoxication, speed not factors in fatal crash Friday

Though their investigation is ongoing, Bartlett police say neither intoxicated driving nor vehicle speed appear to have been factors in a crash Friday night that killed a Hanover Park man.

According to police, 25-year-old Gustavo Ruiz-Aguilar was walking north across Lake Street at the intersection of Oak Avenue against a red light when he was hit at about 9:20 p.m. by a 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander driven by a 19-year-old woman. Ruiz-Aguilar was taken to Amita St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, where he died as a result of injuries from the collision.

As the investigation continues, anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to call the Bartlett Police Department at (630) 837-0846.
