College of DuPage social media strategist Jordyn Holliday receives Ragan's and PR Daily's Rising Star Award

College of DuPage Social Media Strategist Jordyn Holliday has been named to Ragan's and PR Daily's Communicators of the Year & Rising Star Awards, Class of 2021. Holliday is one of 14 outstanding communication professionals age 30 and under selected nationwide.

"It is an honor to be recognized by Ragan and PR Daily as a Rising Star alongside such a talented group of professionals in the communication industry," Holliday said. "This award is a testament to not just the work that I do, but also the support I receive from my colleagues in the Marketing and Communication Division at COD. I also enjoy the collaboration with students, staff and faculty members to share meaningful stories with the community."

This past year, Holliday recognized the importance of social media in remaining connected with students, faculty and staff - and the necessity for the college-wide community to stay in touch with everything taking place at the college. He not only created content but spent time monitoring social media chatter and responding to students' questions and concerns across all the college's platforms. In just three months, he successfully created content that generated 15 percent higher engagements and generated 2.5 million organic impressions, an increase of 1.4 million from last year.

"I am incredibly proud of Jordyn's well-deserved recognition as one of only 14 young communicators nationwide," COD President Dr. Brian Caputo said. "I have been thoroughly impressed by his efforts to connect with our students this past year and to provide them the resources they need to be successful in their educational pursuits."

In addition to Holliday's individual award, the college's COVID-19 pandemic response social media campaign #ChapsUnite, recently received an Award of Distinction from the Communicator Awards presented by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, as well as a Platinum Award from the Hermes Creative Awards presented by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. The college's Marketing and Communications' Multimedia Services partnered with Holliday to earn these two distinct honors.
