Fire departments team up to vaccinate homebound residents

The Elmhurst and Villa Park fire departments and Metro Paramedic Services are teaming up to deliver COVID-19 vaccinations to homebound residents.

The DuPage County Health Department, Region 8 Emergency Medical Service System, and local fire departments are expanding their efforts to vaccinate homebound individuals throughout DuPage. Several paramedics from each department were required to receive special training and complete an exam with a score of 100% to administer the vaccination in the field. It helps ensure that any individuals unable to leave their residence can receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

The health department is maintaining a list of homebound individuals who have registered for the COVID-19 vaccine. It also provides the vaccine and supplies to perform the work.

Any individuals, age 16 years and older, who are homebound or have difficulty getting to a vaccination clinic are eligible for the program and may register at dupagehealth.org/covid19vaccineregistration or call (630) 682-7400.
