Villa Park man charged with aggravated battery

Villa Park police charged a man with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon early Tuesday after a stabbing.

At approximately 1:37 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, officers were dispatched to the 400 block of West Division Street to find an adult male stabbed in the leg and hand. The man said the wounds stemmed from a physical altercation between him and his former roommate, identified by police as Villa Park resident Dominick L. Cooper, 50. A knife was recovered at the scene, police said.

Cooper was taken into custody by officers within a block of the scene. He was transported to the DuPage County Jail to await bond court.

Aggravated battery with a deadly weapon is a class 3 felony.

According to Villa Park Police Deputy Chief Dan McCann, the stabbing victim went to an area hospital for assistance with his injuries.
