Prospect Heights library to celebrate reopening Saturday

The public is invited to the grand opening celebration for the renovated Prospect Heights Public Library, as well as its Summer Reading Kickoff, from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Activities at 12 N. Elm St. include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, Summer Reading registration, guided group tours, giveaways, live music and a Kona Ice truck.

Strict safety measures will be implemented, and capacity will be limited according to state guidelines. The event requires face masks and social distancing both inside and outside.

Registration can be done on the library's updated website, phpl.info/events/grand-opening-celebration-and-summer-reading-kickoff.

During the tour, patrons can see the library's new modern interior with expanded seating areas, larger program rooms, cafe lounge, and a laptop bar. The new makerspace will house STEM components, fabrication learning tools, a 3D printer and other learning resources.
