Memorial Day service in Glen Ellyn salutes pride and honor

"Pride and Honor" were the themes of the Memorial Day service in Glen Ellyn.

Bill Delahanty of American Legion Post 3 greeted the crowd which had gathered at Lake Ellyn Park in Glen Ellyn. It was followed by singing of the national anthem and the "Presentation of Colors" by Glen Ellyn Boy Scout Troop 45.

Mike Formento, Commander of American Legion Post 3, introduced the guest speaker for the morning, Village Board President Mark Senak.

The Regent of the Anan Harmon Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution placed a remembrance wreath in front of the Memorial Stone located near Lake Ellyn.

Bagpipe musician David Johnston concluded the program with the playing of taps and "Amazing Grace."

More than 300 people attended this 2021 Memorial Day event.
