What has Apple given up to do business in China?

Apple's Tim Cook ha struck a deal with China for his product. Apparently he ceded to China's demands concerning storage, privacy, etc. Will this affect Americas as they use Apple's products? Has Cook given away everything to expand in this lucrative and spacious market?
