Waubonsee honors entrepreneur, author as Distinguished Alumnus
Waubonsee Community College announces its 2021 Distinguished Alumnus Award recipient: Indigo Debra Triplett.
A U.S. Marine veteran, Triplett possesses more than 20 years of experience successfully owning and operating businesses in the United States and Malaysia.
Triplett graduated from Waubonsee in 1988 with an associate of arts degree. She continued her education earning a bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree while continuing to work full-time. In 1997, Triplett founded Careers in Transition Inc. and was recognized as a Top 500 Fastest-Growing Companies in America by Inc. Magazine in 2012 and 2013, and top 1,000 in 2014.
As a nationally and internationally recognized speaker and author, Triplett has written three books and contributed to a weekly mental wellness column for Inc. Magazine. More recently, she has owned and operated 4D Performance in Malaysia and has been featured as a wellness expert in seminars, keynote addresses, and radio interviews.
As the founder of a multimillion-dollar organization, Triplett has been featured on Fox News, New York Times, Huffington Post, FEMINA, and many other media outlets. Ebony Magazine referred to her as "The $18 Million Dollar Woman." Triplett presents the strength and perseverance of many community college students who persist in their education while working and raising a family.
The Distinguished Alumnus Award is presented each year to an outstanding graduate of Waubonsee Community College. Awardees have distinguished themselves in their chosen profession, have documented evidence of contribution and service to their community, and demonstrated a continued interest in lifelong education.
