Man found dead in Elmhurst lagoon identified

The man whose body was found in the Eldridge Park lagoon in Elmhurst has been identified.

DuPage County Coroner Dr. Richard Jorgensen said the deceased is John Ruane, 78, of Elmhurst.

Jorgensen and Elmhurst police said the investigation into how Ruane died is continuing.

An Elmhurst Park District worker found the body around 7:50 a.m. Tuesday while mowing the park, which is at 363 Commonwealth Lane.

According to police, Ruane had been staying with a relative in Arlington Heights. The relative had reported Ruane missing Tuesday morning. The relative's car was found at the park.

Ruane had several medical problems, used a cane and had gone missing once in December, according to police.
