Carmel Catholic High School names new athletic director

• Nate Brill was named athletic director at Carmel Catholic High School, responsible for filling vacant coaching positions, conducting evaluations of head coaches and representing Carmel at conference, county and IHSA athletic director meetings.

As associate director for admissions and an assistant football coach at Carmel since 2020, Brill brings nearly two decades of experience in public, private and nonprofit educational systems. He replaces Mark Pos, who announced his retirement earlier this spring.

Brill has experience in high school and postsecondary athletics, including his roles as sports information director at Robert Morris University from 2018-2020, where he also served as an assistant football coach from 2010-2020. Prior to Robert Morris University, Brill worked for nearly a decade at Warren Township High School, where he served as a special-education teacher and assistant football coach.

"Nate will bring vision and leadership while continuing to help grow our programs and improve our facilities," said Carmel Principal Jason Huther. "He has impressed everyone with whom he's worked with during his short time here at Carmel, both in the Admissions department and as a football coach. He is professional, organized and has a tremendous work ethic."

• Hawthorn Woods native Paige Nierman, a member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team was selected as recipient of the 2021 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Judy Kruckman Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete Award.

Nierman, who is a senior, sustains a 3.70 grade-point average and is majoring in communication sciences and disorders with a minor in public health. The Stevenson High School graduate is a two-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete and three-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.

She has been recognized on UW-Whitewater's dean's list numerous semesters and has conducted undergraduate research for UW-Whitewater's Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Nierman is a three-time WIAC champion, winning No. 5 singles in 2017 and following that performance with No. 4 singles and No. 3 doubles titles in 2018. In 2017, she finished as the conference runner-up at No. 2 doubles. A two-year team captain, Nierman has helped UW-Whitewater claim the WIAC team championship each of her four seasons. She was also a member of the NCAA Tournament teams in 2018 and 2019.

Nierman has been a member of UW-Whitewater's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. In addition, she has volunteered for UW-Whitewater's Community Garden, Nursing Home Visitation, Make A Difference Day and Leader In Me, as well as being a youth tennis coach.

• Danielle Dillon was named principal of Mount Prospect School District 57's Westbrook School for Young Learners, effective July 1.

Dillon will replace Kristin Vonder Haar, who last month was named the district's new assistant superintendent of teaching and learning.

Prior to joining District 57, Dillon was a fourth- and fifth-grade teacher in Park Ridge. She holds a Master of Arts degree in school leadership from Concordia University, River Forest, and an Associate of Arts degree in elementary education from Trinity Christian College, Palos Heights.
