Buffalo Grove police aim to 'Stuff the Squad' in May

Buffalo Grove police and local grocery stores are teaming up in May for a "Stuff the Squad" food and household goods drive.

Nonperishable food items and home supplies will be collected and donated to food pantries that serve the Buffalo Grove community.

With job losses and other economic hardships created by the pandemic over the last year, local food pantries have been a valuable resource for residents, organizers say.

Police will collect items at the following locations during the listed dates and times:

• Mariano's, 450 W. Half Day Road, Buffalo Grove, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 1.

• Garden Fresh, 770 S. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove, 1 to 4 p.m. May 1.

• Sunset Foods, 4190 Route 83, Long Grove, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 2.

• Woodman's, 1550 Deerfield Parkway, Buffalo Grove, 1 to 4 p.m. May 2.

• Jewel, 79 McHenry Road, Buffalo Grove, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 8.

• Target, 1400 E. Lake-Cook Road, Wheeling, 1 to 4 p.m. May 8.

Police also are partnering with local school districts for "Stuff the Squad" events at nine elementary schools as part of the donation drive.

Anyone who can is asked to consider purchasing some extra groceries and other supplies to help community members who could benefit.
