Warren running back Maurice Edwards named Chicago Bears All-Star

Warren Township High School running back Maurice Edwards has been named the Chicago Bears "High School All-Star" for the final week of the spring football season.

The Bears will direct a $500 donation to the youth football program of Edwards' choice.

The junior running back helped lead Warren to a 55-14 win against Libertyville. He tallied five touchdowns and rushed for approximately 300 yards in the game; three of his touchdowns were for more than 50 yards each.

Edwards, who also runs track, ran for more than 100 yards in each game this season. He transferred from Grayslake Central before the school year started.

Edwards has received offers from Eastern Illinois, Illinois State and Northern Iowa.

Warren, the 2019 North Suburban Conference champion and 2019 Class 8A state runner-up, finished the season at the Class 8A No. 4 spot in the final AP poll with a 6-0 record.

The "High School All-Stars" program is presented by Athletico Physical Therapy.
