A conservative on climate
RE: "A conservative case for climate action" First, we should thank the Herald for publishing this excellent guest column by Mr. Panelli. It is certainly time to consider the climate problems we are already seeing and to also realize that the carbon in the air is increasing, which is leading to increasing average world temperatures. One threat that was not mentioned is immigration and refugees. Climate change is largely responsible for many of the immigration and refugee problems we face. Another part of the issue is energy conservation. The fee and dividend plan mentioned will lead to significant reductions in energy use; we will find insulating homes better is worthwhile as fossil fuel prices increase. Lighter materials in cars will be worth the extra costs because of the energy savings.
It is certainly refreshing to hear a conservative support climate action. Now it is time for Republicans in the House to support the bill. We should all contact our representatives and ask them to support HR 2307.
