Camping World buys reservation service; to accept cryptocurrencies
LINCOLNSHIRE - Camping World Holdings Inc. has acquired an online campground reservation and management company. Financial details were not disclosed.
In addition, Camping World Monday said it will begin accepting cryptocurrencies as payment for RV purchases through a new partnership with BitPay.
Camping World said it acquired Nomad Reservations, an campground booking and management system marketed as CampgroundBooking.com. This software gives the campground owner greater insight into revenue-generating opportunities by optimizing campsite availability, while providing RV owners an interactive, mobile tool to easily find and book a campsite for their journey, the company said. Nomad Reservations has also developed a proprietary trip planning tool, which allows the outdoor enthusiast to create a personalized travel experience, integrating multiple points of interest such as campgrounds, hiking trails, etc.
"As the industry leader, we constantly seek new partners to enhance our product offerings," said Marcus Lemonis, CEO and Chairman of Camping World Holdings.
Through BitPay, Camping World will accept bitcoin, Ethereum and select other cryptocurrencies through a variety of digital wallets. The initial launch includes the Chicago and Kenosha, Wisconsin, locations, but the company plans to expand to all locations that sell RVs and to its e-commerce platforms this summer.
