Column missed the mark

I am a longtime subscriber to the Daily Herald. I was so disappointed and offended with Mark Munroe Dion's column in the Opinion page on April 21. He was commenting on "ex-royals' new opportunities" in America.

He first went on to criticize Harry and Meghan's very tough and emotional decision to separate from the royal family - calling it "running away." Meghan was brave enough to be vulnerable and honest about her mental health issues. Using their life circumstances to write a low-brow article is deplorable.

He proposed these things for them to make money. 1. A reality TV show (here he made fun of people in the South being nothing more than Bible bangers in mobile homes that are "meth-cookin', disability-fakin', and heavily armed." 2. Mr. Dion suggested Pro Wrestling where Meghan wears something "cut high on the thigh." 3. American politics - "no qualifications, not much real work." 4. Porn - where he paints the picture of Meghan as "a young multiethnic American" pizza delivery person. 5. Rap music 6. Drug addiction (getting addicted to crack).

If this column was intended to be funny, Mr. Dion really missed the mark. And his column was a mere six inches away from H.C. Paddock's quote "Our aim: To fear God, tell the truth and make money." If that is the aim, Mr. Dion surely missed the mark.
