Grand Avenue work in Gurnee resumes; July targeted for completion

Construction on Grand Avenue (Route 132) between Route 41 and Waveland Avenue in Gurnee resumed Thursday.

Traffic on Grand is being reduced to one lane in each direction from Route 41 to Magnolia Avenue as part of the ongoing work. Access to residences and businesses within the work zone will be maintained during construction.

Work is anticipated to be completed in July. The $19.8 million project consists of removal and replacement of the Union Pacific Railroad bridge, new sidewalks, curbs, retaining walls, storm sewers and ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps.

Widening Grand Avenue and the southbound Route 41 ramp also are part of the project.
