Elections are window into community

Thank you, Arlington Heights.

On April 6, I was honored to have the opportunity to run for Arlington Heights village trustee and unfortunately missed the mark, but I am thankful for the opportunity to run and grateful to those who supported me.

Over the last few months, I was able to talk with village residents and business owners, along with our public servants, from police and fire to public works and other areas of our village government. What I learned was that we have a village of caring and dedicated people, doing remarkable work in trying times.

While our public servants are striving to deliver efficient and timely services and they do and do it well, our residents and business owners look to village leaders to focus on maintaining those services, while trying to keep their taxes low and reasonable. It's a tough balancing act, but Arlington Heights does this well.

I congratulate those individuals elected to serve as village trustees, along with thanking those voters who came out to vote, not only for me, but to participate in our local elections.

My hope for future elections is that more voters get out and vote, as few currently do. The right to vote came with many sacrifices, so we should honor those sacrifices by getting out to vote. When any local, state, or federal election is held, please vote, your vote matters and matters more than you realize.
