Hainesville teenager killed by Metra train in Round Lake Park

A 17-year-old from Hainesville died after being hit by a Metra train in Round Lake Park early Tuesday, according to a news release from the Lake County coroner's office.

Authorities responded to the 300 block of W. Main Street at 12:07 a.m., the release said.

The preliminary autopsy results indicate the person died as a result of severe blunt trauma. The Lake County coroner's office and Metra Police Department are investigating.
