Seniors can join BACOA for its April programming

Barrington Area Council on Aging is now offering in-person bingo once a week at the Barrington Park District. Safety protocols will be in place, space is limited and registration is required.

BACOA has also begun offering its Outsiders walking group on local hiking trails.

BACOA continues to offer a variety of its virtual programming as well, with presentations, concerts and activities that can be accessed by Zoom. All programs are free; participants can join them by computer (video and sound), smartphone (video and sound) or regular phone (sound only).

April programs include:

• 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 15: The Outsiders Walking Group will walk the trail at Citizens Park in Barrington, weather permitting.

• 1 p.m. Thursday, April 15: "Habitat Guide to Birding." Learn about the lives of birds, the importance of habitat, and how the Lake County Forest Preserves work for their continued success in our area.

• 1 p.m. Friday, April 16: "Folk on Friday." A Zoom performance of folk favorites by Second Wind.

• 11 a.m. Monday, April 19: Bingo at the Barrington Park District, 235 Lions Drive, Barrington. Space is limited and registration required; call BACOA.

• 11 a.m.to noon Tuesday, April 20: Virtual Bingo via Zoom.

• Noon Wednesday, April 21: Cuisine Club at Incontro A Tavola at the Arboretum of South Barrington. Cost is $25.

• 1-2 p.m. Thursday, April 22: Game Days return to the South Barrington Park District, 3 Tennis Club Lane, South Barrington.

• 11 a.m. Friday, April 23: "Art with Kaleidoscope." Create a project under the direction of an instructor from Kaleidoscope School of Fine Art. Cost is $20; includes supplies. Register by April 15.

• 11 a.m. Monday, April 26: Bingo at the Barrington Park District, 235 Lions Drive, Barrington. Space is limited, and registration required; call BACOA.

• 11 a.m.to noon Tuesday, April 27: Virtual Bingo via Zoom.

• 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 28: "What's in a Name." Docents from Lake County's Dunn Museum will discuss the origins of names in Lake County communities by highlighting individuals and events that influenced them.

• 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 29: The Outsiders Walking Group will walk the trail at Deer Grove East in Palatine, weather permitting.

• 1 p.m. Thursday, April 29: Game Day at the South Barrington Park District, 3 Tennis Club Lane, South Barrington.

• 11 a.m. Friday, April 30: BACOA Bookworms: "This is Happiness" by Niall Williams. Copies are available at the Barrington Area Library.
