Pingree Grove woman charged with sex assault, abuse of a child

A 20-year-old Pingree Grove woman is free on $10,000 bail after being charged with sexually assaulting and abusing a child from 2018 to 2020.

Marissa R. Vega, of the 1300 block of Promontory Drive, was charged this week with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child 13 or younger, according to Kane County court documents. Each count is a felony punishable by a minimum of six and as many as 30 years in prison.

Vega also is charged with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony punishable by probation up to seven years in prison.

The records allege the assaults happened from August 2018 to October 2020, starting when the child was 10. The records did not give any locations.

Vega's next court date is Wednesday.
