Fire damages Des Plaines restaurant

Despite a fire earlier this week, the American Wildburger restaurant at 1534 E. Oakton St. in Des Plaines is open for takeout, delivery and outdoor dining. No one was hurt in the blaze, which occurred Wednesday afternoon and was started by roofers doing repair work atop the restaurant, a city spokeswoman said. The building was evacuated safely before firefighters arrived. The kitchen area wasn't damaged, so food service can continue, a restaurant representative said on Facebook. Indoor dining will be unavailable until repairs are completed.
