Naperville council meetings to be held in hybrid format
Starting next week, Naperville City Council meetings will be held in a new hybrid format, allowing elected officials and members of the public to participate virtually or in person.
A maximum of 50 people will be allowed into the council chambers at a time, including council members and city staff, according to a Naperville news release. Face coverings are required at all times, and seats will be marked to encourage social distancing.
Thanks to technology upgrades, council members participating via Zoom will be shown on screens in the chambers and be able to fully interact with their colleagues and meeting attendees, officials said.
Members of the public will be able to speak in person, via Zoom or over the phone, as long as they sign up through the online speaker form at www.naperville.il.us/speakersignup by 4 p.m. the day of the meeting. The podium in the council chambers will be sanitized between each use.
The next council meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, has been pushed back a day because of Tuesday's election.
