Kenosha men charged with vehicle burglaries in Antioch

Two Kenosha men have been charged in burglaries to vehicles in two Antioch neighborhoods, authorities said Wednesday.

Antioch police said they were called about 3 a.m. Tuesday to the Neuhaven neighborhood for a report of a suspicious person. According to police, a resident was awakened by an alert from a motion-activated camera that showed someone trying to enter a vehicle.

Police said they searched the area with a Lake County sheriff's dog but didn't find anyone.

About 6:30 a.m., officers saw two men walking near Walker Drive and Deercrest in Neuhaven. One of the men matched the description from the earlier report, and neither had a plausible explanation for being in the area, police said.

The men were later identified as Regis R. Flood-Span, 25, and Martell L. Miller, 31, both of Kenosha. Police said they learned the pair were responsible for several car burglaries overnight in the Neuhaven and Redwing View neighborhoods.

Antioch Detective Sgt. Charles Smith said cash, shoes, miscellaneous electronics and spare keys were taken from unlocked vehicles. Several stolen items were recovered, he said.

Miller also was wanted on an arrest warrant for theft in Lake County, Smith said. Three charges of felony burglary to a motor vehicle were authorized for both men.

Bail was set at $20,000 for each, and they're scheduled to return to court April 8.
