Thinking residential

Thank you, Mr. Hoefert.

You are the only mayoral candidate with the foresight to be willing to consider a residential component at Randhurst Village. Residential will help fill those long empty spaces.

The perfect place to start is the old Carson's building. Build a 15-20 story, or higher residential structure. Build up, not out. Who hasn't seen the skyline of Chicago while driving down Rand.

Imagine the views from a slightly higher elevation. A carpet of green treetops in the summer with the skyline rising above in the background, the lake and the twinkling lights of the buildings at night, then the colors of fall.

Mount Prospect needs fresh ideas to keep our community growing. Using the pre-pandemic model of a transit-oriented suburban downtown, in a post-pandemic world, by putting all new multifamily housing into downtown doesn't seem the way to go any longer.

Many businesses have found that employees working remotely/virtually works.

They will no long need the office space, which means less commuters downtown.

It's the future.

Ford Motor Co. recently announced they will be allowing 30,000 employees to work remote in the post-pandemic world.

Fifteen years in downtown Mount Prospect, I'm tired of the noise from cars, trucks, motorcycles, loud mufflers, sirens and the booming car stereos while people have to wait three minutes or more for the light to change, etc. and the constant dust and dirt raised by all those vehicles and the train.

On a nice day, if I want sit quietly and read a book, I have to shut windows and turn on the AC.

I would welcome the opportunity to leave downtown, but still have businesses, restaurants and other venues in close proximity where I can easily walk to them.
