Committed to students

I am writing to express my support for Judith Weinstock, Kermit Eby, Robert (Bob) Friend and Mireya Vera for Glenbard District 87 School Board.

This year, our schools faced unprecedented challenges brought on by the pandemic. Current board members Judith Weinstock, Robert (Bob) Friend and Mireya Vera reflected on community concerns, followed the science and made careful decisions to best serve our diverse school community. These leaders committed to safety by supporting the implementation of multiple safety mitigations including masks, social distancing, a daily health screener, temperature scans and weekly saliva testing at all Glenbard schools.

They responded with empathy by endorsing a hybrid/remote schedule that provided our community with options to choose a learning plan that fits their families' needs during this challenging time.

Kermit Eby would be a great addition to our school board because he is devoted to the needs of students. With 37 years of teaching experience, Kermit is a District 87 parent who is currently mentoring student teachers. Kermit is invested in helping new teachers develop lesson plans that are appropriate for hybrid and remote learning models and also include space for social-emotional learning.

Glenbard Strong candidates Judith, Kermit, Bob and Mireya have deep respect for the value of each student districtwide. Their commitment to District 87 students is demonstrated by their efforts to construct and maintain a safe and productive learning climate for all during these difficult times.
