Naperville church hosting blood drive

Calvary Church in Naperville is hosting a blood drive Tuesday in response to a shortage of blood donations in the area.

Scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 9S200 Route 59, the American Red Cross blood drive is open to the public, though donors are asked to book an appointment ahead of time, according to a news release.

The Red Cross is testing all donations for COVID-19 antibodies, the results from which will be available to donors within two weeks, officials said. Plamsa from donations that test positive for high levels of antibodies may be used in convalescent treatments for coronavirus patients.

Appointments can be made via the American Red Cross donor app, online at redcrossblood.org/give.html or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS.
