Hoffman Estates man charged with Elgin robbery held on $100,000 bail

A Hoffman Estates man who authorities say took a woman's purse and cellphone as she entered an Elgin car dealership was ordered held on $100,000 bail Friday.

Harold Frazier, 42, is charged with robbery, a felony punishable by up to seven years in prison upon conviction. Probation is also an option.

Frasier approached the woman from behind as she entered the dealership where she works, wrapped his arm around her, grabbed her phone, pushed her to the ground and took her purse, said Assistant Cook County State's Attorney Ruben Herrera. Afterward, he left in his car, Herrera said.

Frazier turned himself in to police Thursday, Hererra said.

Frazier's background includes 2009 convictions on two counts of manufacture and delivery of cocaine for which he was sentenced to 14-year and 10-year sentences that he served concurrently, Herrera said.

He also has convictions in 2011 for theft of labor services, 2009 for telephone harassment, 2008 for theft and 2007 for obstruction of justice, along with eight misdemeanor convictions, prosecutors said.

Frazier next appears in court on April 9.
