No injuries in St. Charles house fire

No injuries were reported in a Tuesday night house fire in St. Charles that officials say caused about $8,500 worth of damage.

Just before 11 p.m. Tuesday, the St. Charles Fire Department was dispatched to the 1800 block of 3rd Place after a report of smoke coming from the residence. Firefighters found a fire in the laundry area of the home.

The St. Charles Fire Department was assisted by units from Batavia, Geneva, Elburn and North Aurora. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes, authorities said.

The home remains habitable. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
