Lake Street resurfacing in Aurora begins April 1

Illinois Department of Transportation officials say a resurfacing of Lake Street (Route 31) from Rathbone Avenue to the Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88) in Aurora is scheduled to begin, weather permitting, on April 1.

The work, which will require daily, intermittent lane closures, is expected to be completed in late September. The project includes resurfacing the 4-mile stretch of Lake Street and constructing new ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps.

Access to residences and businesses within the work zone will be maintained throughout construction, officials said.

Drivers can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through the area, officials said. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
