Barrington chamber scholarship applications due Thursday

The deadline for applications for the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce's 2021 Lauren Brown Memorial Scholarships is Thursday.

The scholarship program is named after Lauren Brown, a director of marketing and communications for the chamber who died at age 29 in 2012.

Starting in 2013, the chamber has awarded in the spring scholarships in Brown's honor to local high school students pursuing higher education through a university, community college, or vocational/trade certification program.

Scholarships range from $500 to $1,500 and are not based on financial need.

The recipients will be notified by April 12 and will be asked to attend an April 22 lunch at Biltmore Country Club in North Barrington.

Eligible students must be from the Barrington area, or be related to an employee of a chamber member business. There are no restrictions regarding race, religion, nationality, gender or physical ability.

Applications are now available at barringtonchamber.com and the chamber's office, 190 E. James St. in Barrington.
